Important Information about our lodges
- Quad bikes and scramblers are not permitted on the estate.
- No pets are allowed on the estate.
- Motorbikes are allowed upon arrival at the estate but cannot be driven around the estate for leisure.
- Toy planes and/or drones are not permitted.
- Swimming in and canoeing on the dam is allowed.
- No loud music allowed.
- 50% deposit is required within 24-hours of making the booking. Your reservation will not be confirmed until this deposit is received. Once received the reservation will be changed from provisional to confirmed. Balance of payment is due at least 7 days prior to arrival.
- A refundable deposit of ZAR 2500 is required. Payment due 7 days before arrival. Reimbursements will take place within 14 days of check-out. Your deposit will be refunded in full via bank transfer, subject to an inspection of the property.
- Non arrival: no refund
– Less than 1 week’s notice: no refund
– More than 1 week’s notice: 50% refund of total booking amount
– 4 or more week’s notice: full refund of total booking amount
- When visiting the Star Dam in summer, it is imperative to have a hat and sunscreen.
- A light weight raincoat is recommended.
- Bring out your woollies in winter – but not too many because the days are glorious.
- A good pair of trainers or hiking shoes for our trails and surrounding walks.
- Star Dam is stocked with rainbow and brown trout, rods available to rent.
- Camera, charger and binoculars to explore our beautiful bird life.
- A sufficient supply of prescription medication – there is a pharmacy in nearby Howick.
- Enough groceries for your stay as there are no shops nearby.
- Dam is stocked annually with Rainbow and Brown Trout.
- Fishing strictly catch and release.
- Fly Fishing rods and equipment available to rent.
- Boats are available to hire for guest at Safire, Waterford, Inkanyezi and Stoneford lodge.
- Charcoal, briquets, firewood and firelighters are available on request .
- Roads to the estate are not ideal for low clearance vehicles.
- Tillietudlem Nature Reserve and Mount Park Guest Farm in the nearby vicinity offer hiking and mountain bike trails.
- Mountain biking is allowed on the estate.
